The wedding industry is a forever revolving door. Gone are the days when word of mouth or a small advert in the local paper was all you needed to secure new bookings. Things have changed dramatically. I still remember being 8 years old and a bridesmaid for my Aunt. Each and every supplier was a local who my Aunt either knew, or had been recommended down at the local post office (got to love that old school village life) if you were really lucky, you'd find a good supplier from an advert placed in the business section of the local newspaper.
Back then, it was never really about the quality of supplier as pretty much everyone offered the same, you just went for who was cheap and available. Fast forward to 1998, when our trusty friend google launched and the wedding industry changed dramatically.
For the wedding industry, Google became our new word of mouth, except it took us out of the village and put us all on a map on a bigger scale than we could ever have imagined. It gave our businesses the opportunity to grow and develop in accordance with our own personal styles, giving us the opportunity to be individual and really put our own stamp on our corner of the industry.
SO, WHAT DOES AN ONLINE REVIEW MEAN FOR US?
In just one word, it's 'everything'
The Rustic Wedding Company isn't a large corporate business, churning out mass produced weddings on a daily basis with each one being a carbon copy of the other. We don't employee hundreds of staff and we definitely don't cut corners on quality or customer service.
Although what we do is pretty large scale in terms of workload and wedding capacity, we are still very much a small business. The business is owned and run by one single Director - Lesley, who employs 4 staff which includes 2 part time stylists, 1 admin manager and 1 florist. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with but it goes without saying, we work hard around the clock to deliver a service like no other.
Team Rustic work hard. We work long hours, long days and during peak season, there is little room for a day off but we do this to provide the very best for our clients from start to finish. TRWC are there for clients from the moment a client's first email lands in our inbox. Each reply is responded to personally by one of the team, each social media message is replied to and we ensure that communication is paramount to our relationship with clients.
We work super hard to provide an aesthetically pleasing platform for you to browse through and take inspiration for your day via Instagram - call it an extension of Pinterest without the annoying adverts.
We showcase our work on the blog as much as time allows us to as we want to make sure that you always have a clear idea of the endless options to you when you work with us.
Our showroom is always dressed and ready for you when you attend your consultation - there are also no limits on these as we understand how important it is for your day to be just right. Then, once we have an idea of how we can make your day work for you, we begin on your quote.
Once your date is sealed in the diary, we are always working on your plan, sourcing items, cross checking colours, working on signage - fonts, mediums, styles and logistics with your venue. We do not stop.
The final run up to your day is devoted entirely to you and we make sure we are on hand in the event of any last minute changes, if you need reassurance and of course, we are there for you if you just need to keep track. All this is before the day even arrives.
On the day, we are up at the crack of dawn, loading the van, arriving at your venue, meeting with the venue team, discussing any last minute details, unloading and getting to work on transforming your venue. Contrary to belief, we don't get all day for this, we have experience with venues that sometimes only give us an hour window to set up and so we need to work in quick time. We hang around once the styling is finsihed to quality check everything and to make sure you are happy and then return for take down at midnight or the morning after.
A google review that takes just 5 minutes, is the best reward for us after months and sometimes years of hard work that we put in. It's confirmation for us that we delivered - any supplier will tell you that despite having a clear plan in place and being confident in what we do, the post set up anxiety is real.
The Team almost stop breathing until we hear the all important exclamation of joy when either our couple or trusted member of the wedding party gives us the final nod. To us - a google review is a nod of appreciation, it's the sigh of relief, it's the thanks after all the long hours, it's that little nod of approval for future clients and for our team, it's the final high five. A google review for us is the equivalent of word of mouth - only world wide - and what could be better than that?
