Lynette and Paul’s wedding was a breathtaking celebration at Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire, following a beautiful Catholic church ceremony in West Bridgford, surrounded by their loved ones.
They discovered our services through a recommendation from their florist, Sophie at Big Day Blooms, along with the wonderful team at Prestwold Hall. Being recommended by industry peers is always such a privilege!
From our very first consultation, it was evident that Lynette had a clear and creative vision for her special day. She dreamt of vintage books, travel-inspired table settings and suitcases, all coming together to create a unique and personal celebration.
Over to Lynette & Paul to tell us more...
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR DAY...
When they say your wedding day is the best day of your life, it was that and more for us. Our wedding reception took place in the stunning Prestwold Hall, the perfect setting for a summer country wedding in July 2024, surrounded by our family and friends.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY?
Our wedding ceremony was held at our local church where we had built a great relationship with our priest and had attended preparation classes which helped us both learn and understand more about the marriage process. The community had been so welcoming and made our pre-wedding journey so special. It had become a place of refuge from the busy months of wedding planning and brought us back to the special purpose of marriage and our bond with each other.
Our florals on the pew ends were just perfect and mixed with a homemade flower arch, aisle stands, an unplugged wedding ceremony sign and petals lining the aisle. Our florist had provided a list of the flowers she had chosen and I used the list to source dried varieties so that they blended perfectly with the beautiful fresh flowers on the pew ends provided by Sophie at Big Day Blooms.

Nothing can describe the strange feeling of arriving at a familiar place in the most beautiful dress you could ever wear - knowing that your family, friends and husband await your arrival inside.
The ceremony was filled with emotion, happiness and light. Our musician created an amazing atmosphere with his musical accompaniments. We lit two candles at the start to symbolise our individual selves and lit one marriage candle at the end of the ceremony to symbolise our union - we will gloss over the part when I blew out the marriage candle at the end by accident when attempting to blow out my own candle!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DECOR - WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR THEME?
Our wedding theme was vintage travel. We love exploring new places and our journey was cemented by Paul flying halfway across the world (at 48 hours' notice) to meet me in Borneo to learn how to dive.
He had a trip to Spain pre-booked and cancelled this at the last minute when I mentioned he would be welcome to join me. From there, we haven’t looked back both in our relationship and travelling adventures, having already visited Australia, Andorra to learn to ski, the Galapagos and Costa Rica since.
We wanted our guests to share in the spirit of adventure and our love of different places.

Team Rustic pulled together our theme seamlessly and brought the vintage travel theme to Prestwold.
Accompaniments such as candles, bud vases and old books added more wonder to the magic of the theme that we were trying to achieve.
Vicky from Inviting Writing designed all of our on the day stationery, including table names with photos places we had been and a seating plan on a world map.
Our cakery suggested placing the travel themed cake on a vintage suitcase, which again beautifully complemented our theme.

We were very conscious of the fact that we were designing for an already beautiful space at Prestwold. We were keen to bring the luxury surroundings and our theme together in a classy way.
Our tables were accented by central globes at two different heights to add depth and perspective to the design. We had sourced gold cameras from eBay and Sophie provided beautiful floral wreaths and flowers for the bud vases.
Our colour palette blended these perspectives well with gold/mustard accents to symbolise the sun, teal accessories to add some fun, sage green to symbolise outdoors and blush pink to blend with the country house surroundings.
Everything from start to finish was just perfect with Team Rustic working to bring our vision to life - far better than we could have ever have imagined!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE DAY?
It was being surrounded by our wonderful friends and family, who seemed to be having so much fun and it was great to see them get fully on board with the theme.
It was a day like no other for us and we wanted to create the same experience for our guests, who have shown us so much love and support on our journey as a couple.
We remember sitting together taking in our guests listening to and speaking with our harpist at the drink's reception. We knew at that stage that we could fully relax and watch all our guests enjoy the day alongside us. We had a suggestions box for travel destinations and an old phone as an audio guestbook - we have loved reading back all the suggestions!

ANY TOP TIPS FOR ENGAGED COUPLES?
It’s so important to work with suppliers who are familiar with each other and are recommended by others in the wedding industry. Most of our suppliers came recommended by Prestwold Hall or each other! They worked incredibly well as a team, which minimised the number of things we had to think about on the day and allowed us to be fully present.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE RUSTIC WEDDING COMPANY?
Team Rustic came recommended by our florist and Prestwold Hall. Looking at their website we knew that their wide range of accessories could bring any theme to life.
We knew we wanted a vintage theme with something special to us as a couple. After exploring one idea linked to our journey, it was Lesley who suggested the alternative of globes as centrepieces. This provided the initial spark for our vision. We knew we had the right team behind us to perfectly style our wedding in a way that was special and meaningful to us as a couple.

What a wonderful wedding! We wish both Lynette & Paul all the best for their future together.
